Two Ways to Participate

Regional Lodge Support Team

Regional Lodge Support Teams (RLST) serve as a vital link between Lodge leadership and available resources across the state. Their mission is to ensure members have access to support, training, and community engagement by leveraging the specialized expertise of members in areas such as membership, mentoring, leadership, education, finance, fundraising, facilities, insurance, and ritual.

These teams are composed of enthusiastic and knowledgeable Brothers. When Lodges communicate their needs to Grand Lodge Representatives or Regional Directors, the Regional Director coordinates with the Lodge to connect them with appropriate RLST members.

RLST members do not perform Lodge duties but provide guidance, insight, and best practices to help Lodges strengthen the areas where support is requested.

Grand Master’s Representative

Have you served as Worshipful Master and are seeking a new way to contribute to the Craft on a broader scale? Do you have a passion for mentoring Lodge officers and supporting Lodges in their growth and success?

Serving as a Grand Lodge Representative provides a meaningful opportunity to assist Lodges within a designated district as the Grand Master’s personal liaison. Key responsibilities include:

  • Visiting Lodges and offering guidance to officers

  • Ensuring proper conduct during meetings

  • Promoting Masonic education

  • Assisting with officer installations

  • Serving as a sounding board for ideas, concerns, and challenges

  • Facilitating communication between Lodges and Grand Lodge leadership

Serving as a Grand Lodge Representative provides a meaningful opportunity to assist Lodges within a designated district as the Grand Master’s personal liaison. From time to time, openings occur and we would like to know about those that have an interest to serve

Expectations for the position of Grand Lodge Representative: 

  • Past Master of a Lodge 

  • Completed the MN Masonic Correspondence Code Course 

  • Attended the Grand Lodge Representative Retreat & Conference prior to installation 

Lodge Visits: 

  • Regular visits to the Lodges in his district at least once per quarter, making certain the Brethren know him, that he is the first line of support and to maintain a Grand Lodge presence within his Lodges.  

  • Annual official visit to include: 

  • Ensure Lodge has reviewed their books 

  • Complete Lodge Certification that the lodge: 

  • Ritualistic opening and closing 

  • Balloting on candidates 

  • Properly examine a visiting brother 

  • Conduct a stated communication with an agenda 

  • Reception of a Grand Lodge Officer 

  • Attending one officer’s / finance meeting in each of his Lodges during the year, preferably early in the term 

  • Present topics / presentations on behalf of Grand Lodge / Minnesota Masonic Charities (MMC) 

  • Promote the use of Grand View and Regional Calendars.  

  • Notify Regional Directors (RDs) of assistance requests from lodges –  

  • RDs will utilize the Regional Lodge Support Teams (RLSTs)  

  • Make every effort to provide the Grand Secretary / Regional Directors a yearly calendar from each Senior Warden before his installation as Master. (Helps the Grand Master with planning visits) 

  • Attend Award presentations, Officer Installations, and other special events, as available.  

  • Assist in promoting District, Regional, and Statewide events.   

  • Encourage Officer Development, including support for leadership academy, Schools of Instruction, conferences and officer trainings.  

  • Recommend lodges appoint a Prospect Manager, who is not already an officer of the lodge or a Grand Lodge official. 

  • Promote cooperation among Lodges in your District. 

 Grand Master Visits / Pin Presentations / Greetings 

  • If the Grand Master is to visit a Lodge in a district, the Grand Lodge Representative should every effort to be in attendance.  

  • Grand Master pins are presented by the Grand Lodge Representative as the Grand Master directs; Masonic Veterans pins are presented by the Grand Lodge Representative to Masons eligible to wear them 

  • The Grand Lodge Representative is the official representative of the Grand Master and has the honor of bringing the Grand Master’s greetings to Lodges in his district as well as any message that the Grand Master may wish to send. The Grand Lodge Representative is typically given the honor of speaking last as the Grand Master’s representative.  

 Grand Lodge Events – Attend and make every effort to see that the Brethren of your Lodges attend as well. 

  • Grand Lodge Annual Communications/Installation – Typically held in April 

  • Coordinate Schools of Instruction with the Area Custodian  

  • Attend Area Conference and other statewide events and assist in programs as assigned 

  • Grand Lodge Representative Retreat & Conference – typically held on the second weekend in February (by invitation) 

 Code Enforcement/Ritual 

  • The Grand Lodge Representative needs to have a strong knowledge of the Masonic Code and the Minnesota Masonic Manual.   

  • The Grand Lodge Representative is responsible for assisting his District Lodges in compliance with the MN Masonic Code and when necessary, to correct infractions. 

 Bi-Monthly Reports  

  • A report on each Lodge in your district is required to be sent to the Grand Secretary and the Regional Director every other month (if issues arise between reports, provide notification to the Grand Master / Grand Secretary).

Other Duties  

  • Additional duties as the Grand Master may from time to time assign
